Anyone know if Google is abandoning the Nest Protect product line? Has anyone heard of a v3 version of the product coming out? I like the Motion Detection \ WiFi \ CO \ Smoke \ Night Lite \ Wired all in one device. Nothing beats it today.
I know Google zapped their Security piece. But I've looked all around and have found no evidence they'll cut the NEST line.
Any new products on the horizon out there? Shelly has a device coming but I think it misses the mark completely.

Nest Protect was the first product to run Thread, a protocol that will be used by Matter. When Matter will be developed, it will be easy for Google to make Protect available to other platforms with no hardware changes. I didn't hear anything about Google dropping the product.
I haven't heard they are dropping it either, but some weird instinct I have says it feels like a gradually fading product. I dare say they will support at some basic level but they seem to have lost interest in enhancing it. They're probably worried to, as laws related to smoke alarms are a bit of a minefield and anything they do to increase user access to the devices could risk compromising reliability.
