This upcoming update (Home APIs: Enabling all developers to build for the home - Google Developers Blog) to Google Home looks absolutely fascinating. The Verge expands on the topic (Google launches new Home APIs and turns Google TVs into smart home hubs - The Verge) with some more details. Obviously, this is Google we are talking about, but I wonder in the future if there is a way to integrate this upcoming API with Hubitat. I could see this being a way to integrate Nest devices, Google OS TVs, and using their home/away status without using a virtual switch at minimum as potential things. Sure, this would be mostly cloud based, but at least it would be directly integrated into Hubitat.
In my opinion the first step was when Nest bought Revolv, and then shut it down. This is the first step that'll leave stranded consumers in a hell hole after Google leaves the consumer home automation marketplace .....
When I saw the news I looked up the official announcement to see if Hubitat (or really any hub) was mentioned, then came here to see if there was an official announcement from Hubitat's side.
Oh well, hopefully there will be some way to utilize the new API, at least in the short/medium term.
