I am looking for recommendations regarding this thought I have. I am getting a hot tub spa, and I want to be able to monitor its power usage. I wanted to be able to monitor the power going to it so that in the winter (I live in Canada, and it does get cold) and plan to use it all year round. I'll like to have the power monitoring set up so that if the power goes down longer than it should, (meaning heater died, or the tub circuitry died) I will be notified and I can deal with it before things start to freeze. Would Aeotec works with SmartThings Home Energy Meter - Aeotec be a good option to use?
I also want to put water leak sensor under there, under the 3 pumps. I have aeotec water leak sensors but they're battery. I thought of replacing battery with the battery eliminator adapter or do you have a better suggestion for a hardwired one that works with Hubitat?
I have an Aeotec monitoring my whole house. Like a lot of things, the driver can get tricky. I don’t know if I would really mount the thing outside. The picture on the Aeotec website shows water droplets on the case so they think it’s water resistant.
I have a Zooz Zen 78 hooked up to my well pump. It is inside. Not suitable for outside use. But it measures all those electrical parameters too.
The manual says it’s IP44 rated, which means it’s resistant to water splashes or maybe a light rain, but it’s not waterproof. And aeotec also recommends installing indoors/sheltered.
My well pump is 240v. The ZEN78 works.
That said, perhaps overkill for what you need.
I'm thinking maybe a temperature sensor of some sort.
As I recall, there have been bunches of pool sensor threads, but I'm not sure if there's a clear winner.
I think the Ecowitt sensor/system along with the integration may be a contender. You'd have to get a console, and perhaps get into a weather station. It's pretty cheap. I just mounted mine on an 8' pole. You could see what outside conditions are as well as the temp of the hot tub water. If it gets down to a certain point, something's wrong.
