I have the GC-TBZ48 thermostat and it keeps changing time. I set it to the current time and a while later I look at it and it says 12:04 AM or something way out of whack. I am currently using the built-in app.
Anyone experiencing this or know why? thanks
WAG low batteries?
It is running off of 24vac so no batteries. But could have been if that was the case.
Maybe a small temporary power outage on your main HVAC ?
You won't see any problem on the HVAC unit itself because it's a micro-outage
I have used several thermostats who controlled my geothermal unit (24VAC from the unit to the thermostat) but all of them were using batteries/capacitor to hold settings in case of power outage (Quebec here).
12:00 AM sounds like a reset to me.
Yes I have done the exclude/include and reset it. So far it seems to keep time but we will see. The slightest glitch can cause problems with some devices. Thanks for the reply. I am also wondering about the transformer on the HVAC it reads 20vac so may be the culprit. Calling in someone to check it.
Turns out the 20vac is correct for the voltage on the doorbell button. So we are back to the original problem. The time on the GC-TBZ48 is still randomly changing to different times. This afternoon it was reading 3:33AM. I am using the built-in driver so this involves HE.
Is this a driver issue or is it a thermostat issue? Anyone having time problems with this thermostat?
The thermostat is sent a command to set the time from the hub when the device initially joins and when refresh is run.
When you click refresh in the driver details, does the thermostat have the correct time?, or the incorrect time...
@mike.maxwell I haven't forgot you I am just waiting for it to do it again. I will let you know.
@mike.maxwell I just looked at the thermostat and it read 1:17 AM. So I pressed Refresh and the time was corrected to the proper time.
Why is it changing, any ideas?
I haven't hit refresh on mine since installing it at least 6 weeks ago, it's showing the correct time.
I can only conclude there's something wrong with your thermostat.
Wonderful! Thanks
Any chance this has been resolved? I'm considering the same unit for my home. I agree with PPz, time change implies a power reset
Maybe to see if it's a power line issue install batteries for a trial test. Make sure you remove the "C" wire first as I don't believe it can have battery power and 24v connected at same time. ( I think I read that in an on-line installation guide.)
At least if it still happens you can eliminate power as a problem.
I can't say it has been resolved yet. I have replaced it with my CT101 Non-Iris version to see how it works. I have always had good results with the CT101 plus it is cheaper than the GoControl. Price is not an issue with me but there are a lot of people that it is so I threw that in.
This is interesting to me.
I didn't even bother putting the time sync code in my Enhanced GoControl thermostat driver, as I really saw no need for it.
Are you actually using time/schedules on the device? Or is it just a cosmetic annoyance?
Yes, I have the Thermostat Scheduler set up with times. Would putting in that code keep the time on track?
You have Thermostat Scheduler on HUBITAT setup, right? If so, I don't think it gives a piss what the time actually is on the thermostat itself as the scheduling is all based on Hubitat time.
In fact, since you can't do much in terms of scheduling on the thermostat itself, I haven't found a particular use for the time on the device at all (at least not how I use it).
If there is an actual purpose to the thermostat time being correct, though, I don't mind adding it to my driver and doing a scheduled once a day ping to the thermostat to keep time updated.
Yes I have the built-in scheduler running. If the scheduler uses HE time than that is fine with me. I just wonder why the GoControl thermostat is changing time, that's all. Didn't mean to PYO.
Oh, sorry if it came across that way! Not POed at all! Probably bad wording/capitalization choices on my end.
I'm actually quite curious about the time thing too. I have 4 of these thermostats, all wired not battery powered. I plan to look at the time on them this weekend.
That's OK, wasn't sure. I too am curious as to why it does that. I had mine connected to the 24vac as well and no batteries. Hopefully something will show itself. I did see a reset button on the PCB itself but never pushed it.
