GoControl Pairing issues

I have a C-8 Pro. I am trying to pair the Zwave GoControl Garage Door opener. When I first tried I did not realize I needed the secure code on the back of the GoControl (I have a pic of it now argh). During the first setup attempt I tried to skip the security (yes I know). I had 2 ghost devices - 1 for the main GoControl device and one that I cannot get rid of that is called the “Generic Z-Wave DT Notification Sensor“.

Now when I try to exclude –> include in Zwave the device does not show up in Hubitat. Here is what I have tried:

  1. Factory reset the GoControl device
  2. Shutdown (gracefully) the Hubitat, waited 30 seconds and the notification sensor RE above still is showing up and I cannot exclude this device.

So I am now stuck where I cannot pair this device and am not sure what to do.

I started following the directions here but they are super old and I cannot figure out how to use the proposed ZWaveJS Zwave Library: How To Remove Ghost Devices using hub tools or a UZB Stick

If you still have ghosts and are having problems removing them, switch to z-wavejs, let it reboot then shut down and unplug power for 1 minute and power back up. Attempt to remove the ghosts again.

Note all locks and garage door openers require encryption because they are perimeter devices. The Gocontrol also has a QR code on it so you can use that with smart start for pairing.

How do I switch to Z-WaveJS? Here is what I see on ZWave settings page. Top device is ghost.

What platform version is your C-8 Pro running? I am asking because the Z-Wave details page suggests you have a C-8. Or, it is a C-8 Pro with a very very old platform version (pre-ZWaveJS).

The fact that the antenna test shows up indicates it is a recent platform version. Are you sure your hardware is a C-8 Pro, because from the Z-Wave details page it appears to be a C-8. Switching to ZWaveJS via the hub GUI is an option that is restricted to C-8 Pro hubs.

Looks like just C-8

What are my options now?

ZWave experts, like @rlithgow1, would probably want to see your Z-Wave settings/details page in its entirety. @danabw has written a detailed document on removing Z-Wave ghosts, so I am tagging him here.

In your web browser address bar put in yourhubip/hub/zwave2/forceInstallZWaveJS

then type yourhubip/hub/zwave2/forceEnable

Reboot

then follow the rest of my directions

After the ghost is removed type

yourhubip/hub/zwave2/disable

Reboot

Step one (In your web browser address bar put in yourhubip/hub/zwave2/forceInstallZWaveJS) my browser just spins. I am certain I am logged in. How long should this take? I assumed I would get a status line back. I did try a soft reboot of the hub via the web.

Nevermind it took about 30 min then I got this: ZWaveJS has been installed, but it is NOT officially supported on C8 hubs. Use at your own risk.

Correct, then enable it then reboot

I just clicked “Remove”, disabled zwave2 and rebooted. Ghost is gone. I still cannot exclude/include the GoControl. Any ideas?

Can you post your z-wave details page in it’s entirety? Use windows snip

that's not enough devices to reach the garage reliably most likely from the hub. you need more of a mesh with every 30-40 feet or so a device that can be a repeater

you can try pairing it with s2 security closer to the hub. then moving it but most likely won't work reliably with such a small mesh.

I moved the Hubitat within 2 feet of the GoControl and it is still not able to detect the GoControl when doing exclusion/inclusion. I have confirmed that there are no “ghosts”. I think there is something related to the GoControl that is “stuck” in the Hubitat database or something. No matter what I do I cannot get the Hubitat to see the device. I tried manually adding the device with SmartStart and that also did not work.

Pasting log files here of when I did the original exclude:

Are you still able to exclude the GoControl from your Hubitat?

I am not able to exclude the go control from the habitat

For giggles do a full factory reset on the go control, then do a power cycle on the hubitat then try pairing again

Yes I did factory reset the go control. Reminder the very first time it excluded and included first time. It must be somehow stuck in the Hubitat somewhere. How can I tag Hubitat support?
