Getting finished

Getting started seemed to be an appropriate place to find out about others plans to ease their spouses into living with the delightful "hell" we may have created in our enthusiastic pursuit of automated simplicity. I've thoroughly enjoyed automating my home. Most switches will work as expected without Hubitat. There are a few exceptions. My wife likes how things mostly just work. But, we/I are getting older and if I manage to unexpectedly drop dead what are her options? She is internet/computer/mobile competent but playing with Hubitat setup is a bridge too far. Is there a cadre of Hubitat pros that can easily be called upon to help with a transition or provide a bit of mobile support as needed.?

I guess that would be if they live in your state ?>
I am sure there are people that would help .. if they lived near by.
I guess it would be best if most if not all your automations were light switches.
then if the hub died or un-plugged you could still use the light switches.

My wife knows to just replace bulbs and call in a pro to replace anything wired that doesn't "just work" (e.g. wall switches) with the dumb equivalent. Everything else (e.g. battery sensors) can just die in place.

Although she likes the smart-home benefits we have, she has zero interest in trying to maintain any of it if I'm not around.

This is my case as well. And for this reason my wife requested manual control for everything. The result is - hub could be turned off but everything still will work.

There's a very long topic here somewhere from a year or more back covering this same issue - what happens when the home-automater is de-automated?

Lots of strategies, and acknowledgements that 15m after the memorial the partner will have someone ripping the HA stuff out and dump it on eBay for a 10 cents on the dollar or drop it at the local Salvation Army.
