Get Hue RGBW hats (free seizures included)

So with many people saying "hue is better, better color, money is no object" I had an opportunity to acquire some hue RGBW LED downlights at bargain basement prices. While I have a home full of Sylvania downlights this opportunity presented itself to do a head to head comparison. Both are connected to a C7 hub.
Here are my non scientific observations:

  1. Hue(700 lumens) is not as bright as Sylvania(800+lumens)
  2. Seems to me the color rendering is very accurate on both, with Sylvania having a slight edge IMHO
  3. The hue build feels extremely cheap, light and flimsy. Sylvania has a much more solid build.
  4. The pigtail on the hue was designed by a simpleton. It's way too short and they used very stiff aka solid wire.
  5. Possibly critical, if you have a family member that is prone to seizures. I was trying to photograph the color difference, and when I fired up the camera in pro mode and increased shutter speed I noticed Hue has a very rapid flicker, which can trigger some people. Both lights were set to 100%
Here's a photo, the hue is on the right.

So if you bought some hues, and there were problems( besides an empty wallet) this flickering might be the cause.
Any actual doctors in this forum, maybe a neurologist or two?

Lastly will the hue trash my mesh once devices try to route through it?

I had heard about the medical issues, more so with LEDs more generally, not Hue specifically. Can't say I have had any issues... Apart from the wallet issue you talk about.
