Generic Z-Wave Smart Driver vs Generic Z-Wave Plus Driver

What is the difference between the built-in Switch and Dimmer drivers: Generic Z-Wave, Generic Z-Wave Plus, and Generic Z-Wave Smart?
I understand that the Generic Z-Wave Switch/Dimmer is intended for older devices as there is a discussion of the Generic Dimmer vs the Smart Dimmer.
When is it best to use the Z-Wave Plus vs. the Z-Wave Smart driver?

Look up your device on here to see which one to use:

I was wondering more what the differences in the drivers are. I'm aware that a device on the compatible list is associated with a particular driver.
The Generic Z-Wave Smart driver seems to contain a few parameters (LED status) that aren't included in the Plus driver. Is this the only difference?

Not sure exactly, I think one of of them is for slightly older devices, possibly the "Smart" one. I think one of the them has support for the now obsolete "Hail" z-wave command that some older devices use.

What is the device you are interested in finding a driver for? If is a 700/800 chip device my new universal driver might work and detect ALL the settings for you. I am working on and will hopefully push out support for button (scene) events today as well.
