Gen 1 hub seems to have failed - ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED - any advice?

Sadly, my Gen 1 hub seems to have developed a problem while I was on vacation -- no lights on the front of the hub, and every attempt to connect (via url or portal.hubitat.com or direct IP) fails. The stick still shows a blue light, so it's powered, and I can ping it successfully, so the network path appears correct -- just no response to http requests.

Even more sadly, I bought a new hub almost a year ago, but never bothered to migrate since there were always higher priority projects to do -- dumb of me.

So I'm wondering if there's a path forward with HE besides just manually adding devices (so many zwave switches... it's painful to contemplate) and recreating my rules from scratch? I wasn't doing anything complex, but it's probably at least several days of work.

Any advice is appreciated -- thank you --

Doug

Have you tried connecting to port 8081 at the hub’s IP address (i.e. the diagnostic tool)?

There have been other instances of the C-4 led failing, so I think there’s a possibility that you’re dealing with something like a corrupted database, which is a recoverable situation.

Hopefully what @aaiyar said is true but.. I had very similar thing happen with my C4 and it was dead..

You don't have any manual backups anywhere do you?

Thanks @aaiyar -- I did try hitting 8081, but no luck, just the ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED.

Bummer.

You definitely see a ping response though, correct? Does the MAC address of the C-4 show up in your router in the DHCP table?

And you have tried an alternative power-supply?

Thanks @erktrek.

I thought I did -- but when I search my Mac I don't find any *.lzf files (which is I think the format for those backups?).

If I can find one of those backups, can the new hub restore from that?

Doug

It will restore apps/rules and "devices", but these devices will not have anything corresponding in the zigbee/z-wave radio databases.

For zigbee devices, if you factory reset each device and pair it to the new hub, it will slot back into its existing device name and device-id.

Once you re-include the Z-wave devices you can use the "Swap Apps Device" in settings to change the devices in your rules and apps. Then delete the old devices when done. The recommendation is when pairing, name the devices slightly differently than the originals.

Yes, ping works -- I was hopeful given that I can ping it that there might be a way to get the HTTP working, but no luck. I don't think it's a router issue (again, just based on ping), but it's possible -- will investigate. Power supply is a good idea, I've swapped switch ports/cables but hadn't considered the power supply, will track one down and see what happens. Thanks again.

Looong Shot Incoming. Try pressing the reset hole on the back of the hub. It looks alot like one of the 100 air vent holes but slightly larger, and it is nearer to the edge of the hub. It should reset the network and allow the hub to connect, but no guarantees.
It's been terribly hot in the USA lately, make sure the hub is not overheated

It is a C-4. No reset button.

Looong Shot and a miss. You're correct, Thanks.
There is an undocumented button at the inside end of the AV port on C4 hubs, no idea what it does...now don't go pressing it!

Thanks @aaiyar and @Rxich -- I very much appreciate the help. Looks like I've pretty much fubared this and will just have to slog through recreating the devices/apps. Maybe it's an opportunity to rethink my zwave in-wall switches...

On the upside you will be able to take advantage of the c700 chip and some of the software features that use it.
