Gardenspots - err, excuse me, the Sylvania "Smart+ Outdoor Accent RGB Lighting kit" issues

So, my existing set of gardenspots seems to be on the way out and I purchased a couple of sets of their replacements last year - they're called the ""Smart+ Outdoor Accent RGB Lighting kit." They paired up with Hubitat immediately. The driver it used on add was the "Generic Zigbee CT Bulb (dev)" and I changed that to "Generic Zigbee RGB bulb" based on threads here. However, when I change color, it doesn't change to the selected color immediately - I have to click the button several times and it goes through several intermediate colors before finally getting the color I want. Has anyone seen this behavior?

Do the Gardenspots have the latest firmware?

I have not seen that exact behavior (I have 4 sets in use daily and another bunch of their controllers) but I do see different behavior depending on the firmware they are running.

Not sure about firmware. If I directly enter the Hue number and click SET HUE, it immediately sets the right color. It's only if I use the color control and then the "Set Color" that I see this issue.

By the way, I apologize for not getting back with you on the Blink data you wanted. My HE environment started having lots of issues and the stuff hit the fan at work, so I haven't even tried your Blink code yet. :frowning:

HA! No worries! I did not even remember about that, it was purely at your discretion anyways so no need to bother with it.

you can try my app that i designed for these and see if the colors change immediately

mine do..

Thanks!

I’ve never seen these come with anything but the original firmware. If you have a SmartThings or Lightify hub, it is worthwhile to update to the latest firmware if you are having issues.

The ones I purchased (over a number of years admittedly) have had at least 2 different firmware versions and all were updated by the Lightify hub I bought just for that purpose.

Unfortunately 3 of my 4 heavily used ones have NOT been updated. Really should get around to that. From what I have seen the latest firmware does a better job of responding and comes out of power loss with the lights set for white (unlike the purple the older ones do).

As far as I can tell, these have been discontinued, right?

I would hope. They are discontinuing cloud support in January I believe. For whatever reason, Osram retained control over the Lightify gateway and cloud integration when they spun off their consumer lighting division. This is why their are different firmware and different zigbee controllers on the older Lightify brand vs the newer Sylvania Smart+.
Nevertheless, you may be able to get one on Ebay for $8 and just update the firmware real quick before it’s shut down. The firmware is downloadable on Sylvania’s website if Hubitat brings this capability to the Zigbee radio in the future.

I don’t need more - I bought 2 or 3 additional sets a year or two ago. I was just curious.

In my experience over the years with these things, the power supply usually dies first and then the Zigbee module goes bad. I’m not sure I’ve ever had a set last 2 full years though the one I have deployed now is close. I’ll be replacing it soon with the newer model as its Zigbee module is going bad.

Sorry, I misunderstood. I was referring to the Lightify Gateway (made by Osram), not the lights (made by Ledvance now). Ledvance still makes these although they are coming out with a new model that isn’t blinding to look down at.

Is there anyway to still update the firmware on these?

The Lightify gateway is still active and will be until August. If you connect your devices to the gateway they will update if there is new firmware available. You can then rejoin them to HE after they are updated. Here is an example of what I bought for mine.

I got a two sets of these on sale last week. After they paired I switched the driver to Advanced Zigbee RBG Bulb. They seem to work well.

Is this the latest firmware? The UpdateFirmware button doesn't seem change anything. I could pair them to ST if they might update them.

Although, I did have one that I sent back that I'm pretty sure ended in 201 and wouldn't update. I now see that the model name is different. I also noticed that the SmartThings hub wouldn't update some of the models, but the Lightify hub would, not the one in question though.

I just noticed 00102428 is listed at OTA Firmwares - Ledvance Firmware

Hitting Update Firmware did start the update to 00102428. It failed once at 20%, but a 2nd try has gotten past that.

UPDATE: and it completed:
Firmware update for [name:Outdoor Accent, manufacturer:LEDVANCE, imageFileName:1189-0020-00102428, fileVersion:00102428] is 100% complete.

It now says:

  • softwareBuild: 00102428
