Sorry if this is not integration. This stuff is still new to me. So I bought an Ecolink Garage Door Tilt Sensor as I heard here those are good to detect when the door is open. I have a MyQ, but that's beside the point. I'm wondering if I should buy a Smart Switch (light switch) and how to tie those two things together. The whole point being that my wife would like the secondary light to come on in the garage when the door opens. The smart switch is a Lesim it looks like. I needed a double switch panel to replace the existing panel I have.
this is more complicated than you need but you get the idea.. cindys is a garage door sensor like you mention.. my garage is and integrated controller.
I've not done it but the Ecolink Garage Door Tilt supports association. So if you have a switch that supports association and has a driver that allows you to set the associations, you can associate the tilt sensor directly to the switch with no hub.
However you do need the Hub to set it up.
I believe the Zooz dimmers / switches and the Inovelli dimmers/switches are your best bet for associating.
Ok, thanks. I've just bought these ones that look like they're Lesim because I needed one with two switches together to just replace my double dumb switch and it was on sale for Prime day. I'll see if I can do an association with that one. Thanks. I was confused about how the forums here are set up so I did cross post this to Get Started and someone there said I should be looking into the Apps tab, but didn't give details beyond that (he said it should be pretty easy to connect).
I have something similar setup in my garage.
I have Samsung SmartThings tilt sensors on each garage bay door and several motion sensors around inside of the garage. I have a Wemo Wifi Smart Switch for the overhead lights in each garage bay. When the garage bay door tilts, a simple lighting rule turns on the garage lights and keeps them on until there has been no motion in the garage for 30 minutes.
I have simple motion lighting rules for the doors leading into the garage too.
