FYI - Sharptool Errors seemed to prevent firmware upgrade

Hi,

Running 2.1.1.114 and was notified upgrade to 2.1.1.122 available.

Clicked OK and download and extraction went well. Then applying update. Waited 10 minutes, nothing happened.

Cold boot Hubitat, tried again. No Joy.

Removed Sharptools app, Rebooted Hubitat.
Upgrade to 2.1.1.122 went smoothly.

Sharptool error prevented firmware ugrade?

You also could have just re-authorized sharptools, rather than removing it. That might have been a little less drastic. I've never left Sharptools in error when trying to do an upgrade but I would suspect that wasn't the culprit. You say that you also rebooted the hub. I would be curious to have found out whether simply rebooting the hub would have made the upgrade go successfully. The upgrade process should kill everything else as soon as it's ready to run the upgrade so i can't see why this would be causing a problem.

Agreed, I doubt SharpTools is a culprit. Been rock-solid for me.

There have been a few times that I also believed Sharptools was causing issues (@josh can attest to this ). In every case the errors I saw in my logs were a symptom rather than the cause of the issue. I'm not saying that this is the case for your scenario but wanted to let you know my experience. I'm sure @josh will jump in soon to help clarify.

I'd agree with the analysis of the guys who have posted above. More likely than not, something else was going on and rebooting the hub cleared it up.

If you're seeing consistent Error sending event to SharpTools.io: Unauthorized messages, then the SharpTools authorization key that's stored on your hub isn't valid. As Ryan780 mentioned, reauthorizing Hubitat via SharpTools.io would clear that up.

Hi,

Thanks for replies.

Sorry if I was unclear; I first tried a cold reboot and still had no luck with firmware upgrade. Upgrade was successful after removal of SharpTools/reboot

Agree that likelihood of Sharptools as ultimate cause/problem is low.

Most likely Post hoc ergo propter hoc fallacy.

All is good now

Hi guys, I have the same error in my hubitat logs, "Error sending event to SharpTools.io: Unauthorized"
It's happening randomly around every 10 mins

i tried to Authorize using Sharptools website and the hubitat app multiple times with no luck

Please note i have 200+ devices and most of them synced to sharptools.

Can i remove Sharptools app from hubitat and re-add again without affecting my current dashboards?

Yes.

You might start by rebooting your Hubitat hub, then waiting several minutes for it to boot back up and everything to calm down. Then try reauthorizing starting from your SharpTools.io User Page

Feel free to send a note to support@sharptools.io and we would be happy to help.

The logs look like you're getting a new API Key periodically. Almost like the authorization process isn't fully completing. If you shoot a note to support@sharptools.io I'm sure we can get things sorted out!

Thanks for the prompt reply Josh, I'll remove and re-add again and if any issues then will raise the note.
