I don't visit Hubitat Community often, but when I do I like to browse around for a while, often over several days to a week or more. But, on thing that's a small annoyance is that I keep getting logged off. Is there anyway I can keep myself logged in for a longer period? At least a week would be nice, but I would really like to have it for an extended period if possible.
I remembered after I wrote the original post that I have an ad/tracker blocker installed. I checked and the only things it has blocked is doubleclick (on 1 of 3 HC pages I have open) and google (3 of 3). But I thought that Amazon cognito is used for log in,
I just tried trusting the amazon site in the ad blocker, I'm not sure if that will do anything since I didn't see anything being blocked on that site.
If anyone has any other ideas of what may be stopping me from staying logged in please let me know.
You know lately with the latest Chrome I noticed all my tabs after sitting a few minutes behave like I never loaded the page in the first place. It's like someone clicked refresh a second before I navigated to the page. I know this is not your problem but wonder if related. However I do stay logged in and do not have to reauthenticate.
I also use AdBlock
That may be Chrome's new memory saving feature. It puts unused tabs to sleep. You can turn that feature off in settings. I noticed the setting the other day.
I assume that being logged in or not, on this or any site, is based on cookies. I checked on what I had set and blocked previously and didn't see anything that I would think would be related, but I'm not sure specifically what I should see. Chrome shows cookies set from hubitat.com, and community.hubitat.com, and none blocked. My ad blocker (Ghostery) shows 1 site blocked, 'analytics.google.com'.
So I marked this site as trusted in Ghostery. Chrome now shows about a half dozen cookies from google.com set (although nothing from analytics.google.com). I'll report back, sometime in the future (remember, I don't actually visit here that often), on whether or not this makes a difference.
BTW, if anyone would like to share, what sites have set cookies in your browser when you visit community.hubitat.com? I wouldn't expect there to be much, if any, variation but I'm curious to see if there is any.
Darn, that didn't work, I was logged out again . I guess I could try clearing or deleting all saved cookies and site data I can find related to hubitat and try again. If anyone has any other suggestions please let me know.
