If I look at a thread too long it automatically changes me to Tracking, which is not necessarily what I want. Is there a way to keep that from happening?

Yes, this is a preference. Go to your user icon in the upper right, click the person icon tab, and select "Preferences." Then, go to "Notifications" and choose your desired options. In your case, under "Automatically track topics I enter," choose "Never," though there are other options there you may also wish to consider.

Thank you. I looked at that earlier and didn't see it. Don't know why I didn't see it, but found it this time.
