Icon to open a help window that provides additional information about that that tile is for.
If it's a switch to enable something, adding a descriptive text popup window will aid users of that dashboard.

Is that necessary? I mean you have the icon (switch, plug, shade, whatever) and below that is the description (Living room shade, Livingroom Lights, Water Main, etc)
Virtual switches to do complex actions, could use a bit more details that can be pulled up.
For example. I have alerts set up in case something happens. Grouping alerts under a master switch is a way of doing it, but I don't want to turn off ALL alerts all the time. Having a popup, message, that can be modified by who's home, time, mode, season, etc can relay information on the go, if a user clicks the help icon and sees the variable (string) help information.
You can use @thebearmay notifications tile to display a string
You can also use the ifrane advanced driver to display a pop-up dashboard which could include the notification tile
