This is a request to allow for the use of a variable, call it %room%, to allow for the display of the particular room in notifications.

Where does it come from? Are you talking about RM or Notifier?
In Notifier. Just the room of %device%
would be nice if device was an object and we could access any of its attributes

In other words, you want room to be an attribute of device so that it can be referenced in rule machine.

yes.
I could see that being a benefit in notifier, especially with naming. So instead of Living room window you could use %device%-%room% and it would list Window - Livingroom
