When I think of silicone I think of ........ nevermind.
(oops: I didn't see that @Hatallica had already mentioned this up above Favorite Temporary Adhesive that Won't Rip Paint - #9 by Hatallica)
I use Gorilla Mounting Putty to mount sensors all over the house. It goes on trivially and comes off cleanly - it doesn't damage paint or leave any trace of it's use. (note: we use eggshell finish paint in our house, but I don't think that matters).

$14 for two 4 oz boxes. In 2 years I'm about halfway through the first box. I use about 1 to 1.5 squares per sensor. I've used it on 50 or more sensors by now.
Here's what I use

Does it work on painted drywall?
I think for paint on drywall I'd use command strips.
Hadn’t heard of “nano” tape before though. Looks like an interesting option for the surfaces it claims to adhere to.
And apparently it was engineered to mimic the actual nanostructure of gecko feet, since they’re known for climbing pretty sheer vertical surfaces. That’s cool.
Thanks for the tip!
I've used nano or alien tape quite a bit over several years. It's amazing for some things. I have had problems with it pulling latex paint right off of drywall. Not all the time, but often enough that I avoid it for that use now. It "adheres" so strongly, you need less of it that you think you do. Less is more when using it. A large (say 2" section" is very hard to remove.
I”ve been using either this or the gorilla mounting squares. Generally i have not had any issues with it on painted drywall.

Thank you for the tip!
Nope. Tried this recently on a Ring Gen2 Motin sensor. kept falling from the wall. I also tried using it on one of my wall mounted hubs, it keeps falling from the wall.
How long do you need to hold this in place before it sets up?
Apropos of nothing, I once got some silicone caulk past the expiration date at the hardware store, and it took WEEKS to cure, lol.
silicone must avoid moisture while curing, even their properties are made to build a wall against moisture after curing. PU glue, however, need moisture for curing...
And, after all, some very pro glues (like 3M marine) are not that good for gluing specific components (like aluminium)... Chemistry, my friends, chemistry
For expiration date, for sure, use fresh products to avoid problems. Polymerisation will degrade a product if kept too long
depends of the weight. But I keep the unit at least (fixed with other methods) for 30 minutes
