Failed z-wave node, that still works?

Hi-

I have a z-wave node that's in my basement, not the furthest away, but not the closest, that's suddenly reporting as failed after working for the last month or so. I noticed this morning that the thermostat associated with the node wasn't getting updated temp, which is important to some of my automations. In any event, I tried a general z-wave repair, then a specific repair of this node (hub is c-7). What's puzzling to me is that I'm getting temp data from the node again, and I can control the asssociated switch, but a z-wave repair still lists it as "failed". What does this mean?

If a battery node, not unheard of but probably needs a few repeaters to ensure consistent reporting and responses.

Also sounds to me like a signal strength issue. Maybe there is interference? You can post a screenshot of the Z-Wave details screen where the stats are posted - that might help…

As for a solution, I agree with @thebearmay that repeaters would very likely help. I have used Ring’s latest repeaters for this purpose and they work great! They also report power failure (they have a backup battery) which can be very useful!
