I have a new C7 and made a mistake. I DL my c4 backup and restored it to my C7. All the devices and apps and everything else is there but do not respond to anything. However, my older C4 still works fine.
Is there a way to do a factory reset, that will delete my device inventory, apps, etc.
Basically, a do-over.
So I can set it up and migrate it correctly.
BTW, this is my second post. Soft reset/DL latest version didn't work.
To directly answer your question, a soft reset--or a soft reset plus a reset of your Zigbee and Z-Wave radios from Settings, which only matters if you paired any such devices (which it sounds like you didn't)--should be sufficient. There is a way to get a full reset option in the diagnostic UI, but the only additional aspect that would touch is cloud registration, which won't matter since you're still using the hub (but would if you were giving it away). If a soft reset didn't have any effect at all, that's not expected.
But something that seems related to the issue at hand: if you want to migrate devices, a database restore isn't enough. It will carry along the device list, but not the actual pairings. For Z-Wave, you'll have to either re-pair everything and switch out the "old" devices for the new or perhaps use a DNI trick you can find documented in another thread if you don't want to switch all of those (and the device is one that would work this way). For Zigbee, you just have to reset and re-pair the device, but the hub will recognize it as the same one, so it's a lot easier. Or you can do what it sounds like you're suggesting: start over and do everything manually.
You may want to do that anyway if you want to really start over or think you can set up apps better now than you could when you first got the hub (done it a couple times myself!), but it's not the only way in most cases.

ouch!!
Soft reset did work for me.(after a second time) I used a mouse pointer to click on "soft reset" instead of hitting "enter"
The ignoramus that I can be didn't read up on it first. ugh
I just have to migrate now.
Thanks
