Question:
I have a Zwave Plus switch (Leviton).
The switch responds to pushes, but the status never changes from "on".
Also, in the event log of the switch, there are no entries for the last 2 months.
Should I factory reset, and re-include this device to clear it up?
Anybody else have the same issue?
Can you command the device from the edit device page? It's possible that the switch is no longer connected at all.

When you change the device via the edit device page, is that logged in the events page?
Nope. As the first entry shows, nothing for the last few weeks.
Even when you change it via the edit device page? Does the status of the device change when you change it via the edit device page?
The status of the device (on the edit device page) doesn't change when I do a push.
And, as previously stated, no event log since last month.
If there is a Configure button on the device page, give it a push, wait a 30 seconds, refresh the device page (refresh the browser window and not the refresh button). Try turning the device on and off again.
Also keep Live logging open in another window and see if any errors are being generated by the Configure button or by the on\off buttons.
Not a push, but changing the device via the edit device page. Turn it on or off via the edit device page.

- I did a configure, and it showed up in the system logs as
- I waited, and refreshed the browser page (edit device)
- went to device event logs - nothing
- I pushed the on/off buttons - nothing on the page. still a status of on (but it does work , turning the light on/off)
- still nothing in event logs.
I would recommend a zwave repair but the fact that the switch responds to the device page means there is communication but for some reason there is no reporting back to the hub. Seems like your initial instincts may have been correct. I would remove the device (using the remove button on the device page) and re-pair with the hub. A device factory reset (after removing from HE) couldn't hurt either.
And it updates the status on the edit device page when you turn it on or off? But there are no events logged?
It does not update the status on the edit device page.
It remains on, the same status as it was a few weeks ago.
Does it sound to you that my database is corrupted?
Besides a zwave repair, any other tools to "clean out the crap"? (please excuse my language).
You may also have a mesh issue. Do you have any other hardwired zwave devices between the switch and the hub?
I have many wired zwave devices in between.
I doubt it's a database issue (anything is possible though) especially if everything else is behaving properly. Seems more like a comm issue between the hub and switch.

I'm going to:
- factory reset
- re-include
- move over the automations
- remove old device.

Just make sure you properly exclude te switch from the HE hub first (Remove button on device page).
To be fair, I've used Leviton zwave plus switches for a few years now, and I can't say that they have been unreliable. They have always performed, and never dropped from the mesh.
This is probably just one of those things that always happens in the arena of Home Automation - sometimes, things just happen!
