Just wanted to say as I am slowly learning the ins and outs of the HE system over my ST it feels a whole lot like I am visiting an Escape Room The timer is still on and I am waiting for my next clue. LOL I love it!
Trying to add three Schlage BE469 locks and use the Lock Code Manager has been fun with the limited documentation on the app and the difficulty of the Schlage enrollment. The latest success was not hitting DONE that got me a couple of times even after I read the documentation. I am retraining myself to think DONE means ABORT.
This first lock is now working great but I have two more to go before the Escape Room timer runs out and explodes. FYI : That escape room timer is my wife The irony is she has been pretty much trained to be patient over the last year with SmartThings LOL
I have schlage connected camelot lock. It was a bit of a pain to pair. Since you don't need internet, try moving your hub closer to the lock to pair, in case it's just not seeing it. I had that trouble. The reset was a big pain. I found that if it doesn't pair, do a reset on the lock to make sure that it's not associated with anything else and give it a little extra time when searching. I've also found that performance wise, Duracell batteries are worth the extra cost. As of late, I seem to be going through batteries. I've been meaning to reach out to support, but I had eveready's in and I want to see how my duracells do before I bother them. If I can offer any assistance with your locks, please let me know. It's worth it once you get them paired.
Can't stand Duracell! These were good when I was a kid, but everytime I've used them in the last 10 years, they leak. Garbage batteries IMO.
Try these Maxell instead. My first smart lock was an Okidokeys. I became friends with their former service manager and he explained the testing they had done with different battery types. He recommended Everyready Industrial if I could get them. However, for an end consumer that's not so easy. So I did some research and found some testing that showed these Maxell were very close in performance to the Eveready Industrial. Even though I don't use the Okidokeys lock anymore, I still buy Maxell batteries. They're great and I've never had one leak.
Thanks, If I remember correctly years ago back in the ST Community @JDRoberts posted something about the Kirkland Cosco battery brand rating up there? Don't know if that is current data but I've been using Kirkland brand from Costco for a while now and I wonder how Maxwell stacks up. I will give them a try as well. I have been faithfully tracking my battery life on the Schlage locks running the @rboy ST app and the typical battery life has been around 4 months.
This cycled the power and rebooted the HE hub a couple times PLUS I unintentionally cycled the power to my cable modem. I don't know if it was related but a new issue came up, every one of my ZigBee GE Bulbs dropped off the network and every one of my 5 WiFi Sonoff switches got dumped along with 5 WiFi H801 RGBW controllers because they all got issued a new and different IP address? This happened two separate times identically so I am going forward just noting the issues I am dealing with. Since then I have deleted off all 11 of my GE Bulbs which we tied directly to the HE hub and now have reconnected them through my Hue hub instead which I am hoping is more stable a connection which will be the typical several weeks before a reset is necessary on a device. On the ST hub I was resetting my GE Bulbs about 1 per month for several but not ALL bulbs. Some were rock solid and never needed a reset over the year and some just plain took monthly maintenance resets when connected directly to the ST hub.
And I kind of liked finding this problem because it motivated me now with rebuilding the system to disable the DHCP on my cable modem and enable the DHCP to my much better ASUS RT3200 so I can then use its built in VPN which I have been meaning to do for a year but was too lazy and busy.
UPDATE: I changed over my DHCP duties to the ASUS router and I learned a hard lesson. I should have done that before I ever started my HE system. All my wifi device IP addresses changed which caused havoc with my HE of course. I ended up needing to remove and rejoin my Hue hub, Lifx GoG, H801 RGGBW controllers, Sonoff devices. Then rebuild every automation rule involving those devices.
Thanks for posting. Good to know this. I was trying to setup my second Schlage to see if the importing worked well... I will do a factory reset tomorrow.
I’ve opened a ticket with support. They enabled additional logging on my hub and determined that both of my BE469 locks are not completing the key exchange. I tried a third BE469 today and it wouldn’t pair either.
The good news is that they’re going to work on a fix. The bad news is that it may take a while before it’s released.
I just replaced a set of batteries with Duracells' just for comparison so I can watch as well. Under SmartThings using Rboy's device handlers I was averaging around 4-5 months use.
Just wanted to keep a running post of some of the issues I have encountered during my migration from SmartThings
The majority of my SmartThing devices made the switch easily. However some items that had been working just fine with SmartThings using custom handlers has hiccups with Hubitat:
Schlage BE469NX Touchscreen Deadbolt with Alarm. I had three and although I have all three working it required relatively much more troubleshooting and replacing a lock under warranty to finally get all three connected to Hubitat. I was using Rboy custom handlers in SmartThings which are much more powerful than the stock Generic Z-Wave Lock device driver. So I had to forgo the extras like autolock, etc that I was used to and instead be satisfied with the bare bones minimum of lock control. I just had to do the extras manually from the keypad. This biggest issue I am dealing with is battery life has only been about 30 days vs about 6 months on SmartThings Still trying to see if it is something I did to cause this?
Aeon Minimotes; I had 4 of them which had been pretty flawless on SmartThings had constant dropout issues on Hubitat. The issue was resolved by replacing them with Lutron hub and Pico's which actually was an upgrade on the UI and the wife acceptance went up but it was a little pricey to make the fix. Putting Minimotes up on eBay with help offset the cost.
HomePro RF Wall Switch ZRW153W; It will not stay connected reliably and drops out. I have had to reconnect and rebuild all automations for this switch twice now. I may have to just dump this old early vintage z-wave device with something supported.
-iRis button: Honestly I had issues with this device under SmartThings with battery life so I was curious had it would perform with Hubitat. Having issues making getting it to connected but it is a minor issue since I wasn't using this with regularly.
-iRis - Linear GD00Z-4 Garage Door Opener; Inconsistent reporting of the tilt door sensor causing the HSM to go into intrusion alarm at odd hours. Replaced battery on sensor just to see if that fixed it but there is no low battery indication
Overall I am so pleased with getting the switch to Hubitat. These hiccups I am still dealing with are completely outweighed to all the fantastic pluses of Hubitat. I am about 80% switched so far but with the help of this forum and the HE staff the switch continues at a slow but steady pace.
