Enbrighten Switch and Outlet Association

Hello,

I am trying to directly associate some Enbrighten In-wall switches (ZWA4011) and Enbrighten In-wall outlets (ZW1002) as in my use case, the C7 hub (2.4.2.158) may not be available so I need a stable set of independently communicating paired devices. However, I've not been successful in getting the outlet to respond to the switch.

I'd like to know if anyone else has gotten this to work so I don't feel like I'm wasting my time tinkering with it. The manual states that both devices support Association Command Class so I feel like it's supported, and I'm assuming it's Association group 2.

Here's a short summary of what I've tried:

  • I've downloaded the Z-wave association tool, but when I run it, the log says that the switch doesn't support Association.
  • I've tried a number of different drivers, both the built in ones and ones I've downloaded from the Hubitat Package Manager.
  • Some of the drivers allow me to explicitly define other association group devices, and I've put the DNIs in all available fields, but nothing seems to change.
  • The devices seem to be in good working order, and can be turned off and on from Hubitat. The mesh seems stable.
  • I've talked Gemini's ear off about it and sort of exhausted any tips.

So just wanted to see if anyone had actually got these to work or had a tip or two. This is my first time working with Z-wave (I normally use zigbee), so just wondering if I'm missing something.

Thanks for any help, y'all rock!

Tagging @JasonJoel as he is an 'enbrighten guy' - has developed multiple HE drivers for Jasco devices and IIRC uses associations himself in his own setup at home.

Free bump to the top.

I believe he might have moved on to LR and Zooz for system backbone, but not sure.
LR doesn't do associations.

It's not something dumb, like not using hex numbers for the din's?

Also, as I recall, there is a chance that without a hub, ie, no z-wave radio, associated actions could be very slow.

Unfortunately, I basically never do direct device to device associations. So I'm not sure I'm much help here.

I do agree that it SHOULD work though.
