Ecowitt, need install help

I have an Ecowitt GW1200 that is happy to communicate with my Android phone, and appears on my router. My C8P is connected to the same router. I followed all the install instructions as best I can, but the hub on the device list keeps showing up with a big "?". Here are some screen shots to show what I'm getting.

Total shot in the dark here, but maybe try using the device's IP instead of its MAC?

If you got to the step after you set up the push from the Ecowitt in WS View according to the readme file, did you get the syslog warning shown?

Syslog Warning

If so, does the MAC shown in the warning match the one you have in the preferences in the Hubitat device?

If not, you might need to revisit the part about setting up the Ecowitt to push to Hubitat.

Also, if it is on a separated VLAN, you have to use the IP address.

Agreed, I would review the settings in Ecowitt app, since it is dependent on Ecowitt to push the files to Hubitat, so the Custom data send needs to be correctly set up in the Ecowitt app.

I look after the drivers @tray_e linked to, with generous support from a number of others here.

It might be worth confirming a few details like the driver you are using, whether it is mine or another one

As well as the GitHub documentation tray linked to earlier, there is also the main "release" page for the drivera:

And you may also find this recent discussion useful:

I'm not likely to have some time to sit down and work through this for a couple of days, but expect you will find some very useful Community members join in helping you out, as they have done already.

Wait.... there are others????? There can be only one.......

If you look at the screen shot, you can see I used the MAC.

Indeed, and hence my suggestion to try the IP instead.

Oops, I misread you first post. I just tried it by IP with no change in results.

The MAC was the same, and then I switched to IP. Nothing changed.
I am not getting the warning at all. I went back, deleted the device from the app and setup everything again from scratch, including the push to Hubitat. Still nothing. Both devices are using the same lan and the same router.

To summarize my settings:

  1. GW1200 MAC: 24:58:7C:AC:59:D0
  2. GW1200 IP: 192.168.0.nn5
  3. GW1200 DIY Upload Servers->Customized->
    Protocol: Ecowitt
    IP: 192.168.0.nn8
    Path: /data
    Port: 39501
    Upload Interval: 120
  4. Hubitat C8P IP: 192.168.0.nn8
  5. Devices->Ecoitt WiFi Gateway->Preferences->WiFi Gateway: 192.168.0.nn5
  6. All IP addresses are fixed in the router.
  7. Using MAC addresses made no difference.
  8. I'm getting no messages in the logs.

If you are not getting messages in the logs, then something isn't right on the push side. Every 2 minutes, according to your settings (120 second interval), the ecowitt should be pushing data to HE. You would/should get warnings if that is happening and your app is not set up yet.

This was step one on the HE side. No message means no communication and you need to figure that out before moving on to setting up the app.

Screenshot of my setup. All IP's and ports are internal, so no need to mask. If you have slashes, or http:// in your IP (I think I did that the first time), then that will mess it up. Also, hubitat.local doesn't work on my LAN for most of my computers, so I used the actual reserved IP. Also, make sure that enabled is lit up. (Not sure you can enter data if it is not though)

I don't see in your summary "I went into the settings on the Ecowitt phone app or web app, and I enabled the Customized Weather Service."

In the phone app:

More -> Weather Services -> Scroll top menu right to "Customized" ->
Server: Your Hub IP
Path: /data
Port: 39501
Interval: Your choice, I use 60.

Just because you have not explicitly said yet that you have done this, I thought I should add the instructions. If you have done it, you can totally ignore this post. :grinning:

In my phone app it is:
...->Others->DIY Upload Servers->Customized

Then I have the rest matching what you posted, with interval set to 120.

Wrong! Wrong! Wrong! I mis-typed the IP if the server of the server when I put it into the cell phone. I'm now getting a message in my HE log:

2025-12-08 10:19:44.501 PM

warn

"The PWS should be the only outdoor sensor"

Since I fixed the error in the IP (one digit off), I now see 4 sensors under the gateway under Devices.

I think I got the error message because I have a WS-90 on the roof and a separate temp/humidity unit on the front porch.

I'll get back once I figure out if I got everything I should have.

Thanks to all for helping me find the error of my ways.
