Ecolink Z-wave Motion Detector

Seems most of the posts on this unit are old, I thought I would create a new one for my question.

The specs say it is pet immune for pets up to 55 lbs. Has anyone had any experience with this as to the validity of that?

I have been using Bosch units, but they are so old and are starting to go bad. I tried Third Reality, but can't seem to get it mounted to miss my small dog. Ditto with Sonoff units.

Thoughts from anyone?

Mine work well… I have 2 dogs… I typically use these primarily for security purposes.. My other motion sensors are faster and I use them for automation.

I have had a couple of Ecolink Z-Wave motion detectors for 2-3 years now. I had a 35 lb dog and had no false alarms. I have them in locations like a walk in closet that don't get much activity. They have been very reliable, but you should be aware that, as @bcopeland mentions, they do have a 3-4 minute cool off period. What that means is once it is active, you will need to wait 3-4 minutes before it can become active again. So they are not the best sensors for locations that get a lot of activity. Once the 3-4 minutes have expired they will trip to active rapidly, so there is no delay in activating the lights, but then you will need to wait 3-4 minutes for another cycle. I believe Ecolink did this to maintain battery life, which has been good on my sensors. There is no adjustment on the cool off period.

I have a couple of these that are >6 years old. The battery life is awesome, like 3 yrs+ in high traffic areas.

I primarily need these for security, so the reset time is not critical. I can use the other brands for automation stuff.

Thanks for all the input. Now if they wern't quite as expensive.....

and so big.

The Bosch’s aren’t small either. :astonished:

And the Zooz ZSE29.

I have had the Ecolink from when I started my smart home in 2017. They work well, my 3 cats do not trip the motion detector.
