Wondering if anybody has any experience in using the ecolink gdzw7-eco garage door controller. I need to replace my go control that has stopped sending a signal to the door to open. I was going to go the route of using a dry contact switch then I found this and figured that since it will “learn “the garage door code and work as a remote that’s a lot less trouble to go to. Just curious if there’s any feedback on if it works and if there’s any problems with drivers.

The Linear (GoControl) GD00Z-4 garage door controller has a known design flaw where its surface-mounted strobe LED burns out. When this LED fails, the controller frequently stops operating the door (reporting errors like "Barrier Operation Denied"), but it will often still issue warning beeps.
Are you aware of this?

for advice and videos if THAT might be your problem with the GDO.
Aware of the failure issues with gocontrol. This is my second one failing like this. It lasted this time about as long as the last one. If I understand correctly it probably is a relay that quit. It still flashes and beeps but does not actuate the door. Could have bought another one but thought I would try a different device.
I have what I need to do a dry relay but found the Ecolink that can work with no wires needing to be connected to the opener. Will see how it goes.
I have two and have not had a failure yet... but I keep expecting one 
That LED design failure is probably the only thing I could fix. 
What brand of garage door is this? If Chamberlain or Liftmaster, what color button on the controller?
Depending upon the opener you have, there are some interesting options.
Existing opener is a Craftsman, older, no bells or whistles. Expecting that pairing The ecolink device will not be a problem. I have some balance issues and trying to climb up on the ladder to access the existing opener is not an option unless I find somebody who can help me do it. Trying to get my smart garage door opener function back because I rely on it for convenience and emergency situations. I already purchased a dry contact momentary switch, and a Third Reality tilt sensor and was ready to try and splice it into the wall button for the opener. After doing all of that, a thought hit me that there might be a Z wave option other than go control that could be set up without wires and I found the ECOLINK device. Seems like it will make life much easier just to let it learn the openers codes rather than having to mess with wiring., and if I understand correctly, it can wire in as well if I don’t want to do it wireless. And if all that fails, I still have the dry contact switch I could use if needed. And hopefully be able to return the switch if I don’t need to use it. Will probably keep the Third Reality tilt sensor just as a backup and mount it on the garage door.
