Eaton rftr-9605-taw

I cannot for the life of me get this to pair. I had an Eaton outlet go bad so I bought this one to replace it with and NO LOVE. Tried pressing the on/off 3 times within 1.5 seconds, doing a hard reset by pressing and holding the button after doing the 3 in 1.5 seconds, just doing a single press after starting inclusion. I even tried doing an exclusion and couldn't get it to exclude. What am I missing??????!!!!!!

The manual indicates that inclusion/exclusion require a single tap of the button. Upon inclusion, the LED will stop blinking slowly. And upon successful exclusion, the LED will start blinking slowly.

Also, that a hard reset should be performed as follows:

  1. Turn the device on
  2. Hold the on/off button for 20 seconds till the LED flashes the second time
  3. Release the on/off button

The LED will flash rapidly. Once it starts blinking slowly, it indicates the device is not part of any z-wave network.

Based on his z-wave page on fb, @bob20 has at least 4 ghosts that need removed. That will prevent inclusion and mess up your mesh

Here are the screen shots. @rlithgow1 said to remove the ghosts. Working on that now. Just thought I'd keep this here updated as well for those who may not be on FaceBook.

I would recommend updating the z-wave radio firmware and then removing the ghosts.

I finally got it added but I have yet to get rid of the ghost devices. Any idea other than Amazon where I can pick up a USB Z Wave stick?

The smartest house. Either there or amazon you want the zooz 700 stick

Just to add some information for this model device:
My local Lowe's store was clearing out their Z-wave inventory about a year ago and I picked up a bunch of their closeouts because the deals were just too good to pass up. I got about a dozen of these outlets and I'm finally getting around to adding them to my hub. I ran into various pairing issues with multiple outlets, and it took a variety of resets to get them all -- some outlets wouldn't work even with the manual button, those had to be reset with the rapid multiple pushes. Others had to do the hold for 20 seconds reset. Eventually got them all added, but at least half of them took some love and patience to complete.

One stupid thing to keep in mind. Took me several minutes to figure out on an Eaton-RFTR-9605-t. Only one outlet on the plug is Z-Wave switched. The other is constant on!!! Duuhhh!!! Thought I would post this hopefully saving someone time in the future!!
