Driver Request: Generic Z-Wave lock with Contact

The Yale Assure 2 Locks have a built in contact sensor. It would be great if we can get a built-in driver to support them. Whether that is a specific drive for the Yale Assure 2 locks themselves, or even new “Generic Z-Wave Lock w/ Contact”

There is a community driver for this lock, but it does not report what pin was used correctly. Perhaps that can be expanded upon by support to actually make it function properly.

@support_team

Have you given feeback to the dev for this driver in their driver release topic to see if they are interested/have time/still around to update their driver? That would often be the faster path compared to getting a built-in driver created/updated.

It’s this driver. I posted several weeks ago and got no response, so assuming the dev isn’t paying attention or interested.

Unless theyve changed it recently, the lock doesn't actually send the contact status over Zwave, so there is no way to make a driver that is capable of reading it.

Good to know.

I don’t think this is true. The community driver I linked to reports contact status, but it doesn’t successfully report codes.

Have you considered modifying the community driver accurately report key codes?

He has done some investigation in that area....

@trunzoc - there have been some pretty good results getting AI involved on creating and upating drivers and apps. (Even totally non-progammer me.) :slight_smile:

You might want to start a topic in the Vibe Coding section regarding modifying the existing driver to do that, and see if Gemini, or Claude, or other options can get you where you want.

it took 2 days, but I got it working as I’d like on at least one of the 4 yales I have. I’ll test more on the other locks tomorrow.

Thanks for the motivation to use AI. Gemini helped a lot
