Driver for Zigbee Sinope Tank Level Monitor?

Sinope's coming out with a tank level monitor, for propane or oil. Of course, they've said this for the last three years. A person at the company says: "any week now".

Before I buy, if it ever becomes available, I wonder if there is any driver support planned for this monitor? @mike.maxwell ?

I think Sinope makes quality stuff, no?

Hubitat has supported every device that Sinopé has sent us.

I came here looking for info on this device and it is discouraging to see a thread that you've been waiting three years. Web page says being released May 2023 - now - should I believe it?

Believe it when you see it. In stock on an amazon product page.

Or perhaps when @mike.maxwell says they've sent him a sample and he's done the driver.

On a side note, my Tank Utility propane tank monitor, now owned by Generac and mostly integrated with its Mobile Link product, has been working fine for me for a while now. I've got a 1000 gallon tank, mostly for my generator. Tank Utility has its own app which is also good and has some charts and graphs. I think there's an integration for Tank Utility, but not local.

Hi - I have a Generac 7005 on my 1000 gallon tank too. I installed it in February 2021 and connected it to Hubitat without issue - but it stopped reporting recently. I assumed the batteries finally died so I opened it up for the first time and it was all wet and corroded inside. Can't see where the water got in, but not so IP65 in my opinion.

I was looking around for other options - hopefully with local control - and saw the Sinope. Also looking at doing a DIY with a hall effect sensor and a NodeMCU.

But, after drying out the Generac device and giving it new batteries it is at least back up and running. Put their waterproof enclosure inside another enclosure for good measure.

Glad you got it back running. Mine is a 70433 (22kW).

Did you get a notice that it had stopped reporting?

My WIFI repeater out in the garage crapped out at some point, and I don't recall receiving any notice from Generac via Mobile Link or Tank Utility. You would think it'd be possible to send an email if they detected that WIFI was down.

Still better than having ants knock out your generator control board.

Here's a pic of my setup. Excuse the mold. Does one clean that? And don't tell me your tank is underground.

Hi - Yes, completely underground except for what looks like the top of a green plastic garbage can sticking out for access to the plumbing. I have the Generac device sitting up on the 'garbage can lid' - above grade on a slope for drainage and I don't see what would have let it leak after all this time.

I first looked into the status since I have the value on a dashboard in my kitchen and it was at 40% the day the truck showed up to my surprise. They go by that degree-day math for refills and after he came and confirmed it was at 30% I see it had not reported anything since Mid-April.

So - no notice that it had stopped. It does not look like you can do battery monitoring inside of Tank Utility - and in the Hubitat app it just always says "5" for battery level. I have now added this to the Device Activity Check app which I have set to check a bunch of devices and text me if they haven't checked in for 2 days.

How about the cable? The utility people seem to put in a drip loop, or whatever it's called, so that water doesn't tend to run down the cable towards equipment.

Tank monitor driver will be in the next release

So, it's actually happening.
I thought I'd never see the day.

While it is my device - the Propane company puts it back like this each time... There is a cut out in the lid for a handle that this nests into perfectly. The cord runs down and away from the device into the ground, but obviously it isn't vertical for the ideal drip loop. Worked for 26+ months like this, so who knows.

What's the pipe for, location with snow on the ground? Is the wire in it to attach another gauge lead, again, with snow on the ground?

Why not zip tie the sensor onto that pipe?

Yeah - the pipe is for the snow, and it is usually seasonal as they seem to take it away each spring - I guess it is staying and can be the sensor mount.

The wire up top is actually a pin to lock the cover down that I now realize they didn't put back this time - thanks.

Hoping the Sinope release is imminent... Generac device hasn't communicated since the day I dried it out and thought I was back in business. Supposed to send one update a day, but that day the level wen up twice... 76, 80, 81 % and then silence for the last 3 days.

EDIT: Sinope page already change to say June 2023 release, even though it was May just this week. Uggh.

The driver will be in release 2.3.5.136
They must have ran out of stock, when i looked at their site a week ago they were available...
