Door/window contact sensor w/external sensor connection

have been using Ecolink DWZWAVE2.5-ECO to connect an external contact sensor to be able to monitor a gate, unable to find anymore oaths those sensors.

What is an alternative external sensor connection

I'm not sure where you are located, but they are on Amazon now. Is there a reason you need these Zwave contact sensors, specifically? Those are pricy at $33 each.

I didn't even know Zwave contact sensors were a thing, all of mine are Zigbee, and bought for less than $10 each.

If you are using them with wires instead of magnets to act as dry contact sensors, there is no reason to buy an actual contact sensor with magnets, all you need is a leak sensor, as a leak sensor is a dry contact sensor.

My Go-To is to use these, you can soldier to the probe ends or just cut the probe off and strip the wires.

These work with the Generic Zigbee Contact Sensor driver.

I guess I am not clear what you are doing. Those contact sensors use the magnet to close a circuit on the terminals for a dry contact sensor to sense, as well as sending a Zwave event to the hub?

I'm just not clear on your use case here. Can you explain how you are using the Ecolink sensors now?

For standard Zigbee contact sensors, I use the MOES. I like them because they are very small.

A leak sensor with probes would do that then. You connect the reed switch to the leak sensor wires, when the switch opens or closes, the leak sensor reports open or closed.

That is exactly what I mean when I say leak sensors are actually dry contact sensors. A dry contact sensor senses when a switch opens or closes.

The fact that the leak sensor I posted works with the Generic Zigbee Contact sensor driver, means it shows up in Hubitat as a contact sensor, and it will report the status of the reed switch being open or closed.

That is correct but as it is a leak sensor it would send a signal to your HSM as you have water leakage

No devices send a "leak signal." They send a payload with clusters of data over RF, and the driver then interprets that into whatever the driver is designed to present the data as.

In Hubitat, the Capability assigned in the driver determines what device type the driver presents the data as, and what attributes are used to report that data in the driver.

It also so happens that the chips in these leak sensors are basically the same chips found in contact sensors, which in this case is why the generic contact sensor driver works with these leak sensors. They send the same data payload to Hubitat. For all practical purposes, Hubitat has no idea what is sending the data, and it just sees the same data from the leak sensor that a contact sensor sends. The only thing that makes it a contact sensor to Hubitat is the fact that the driver claims it is contact sensor though using that defined contact sensor Capability in the driver definition.
