I'm not sure what I'm missing here. I have a rule set in HSM and Notifications to alert me if a door sensor is left open for more than 2 minutes. I have a sensor on a refrigerator in our garage that my daughter has left open twice. I'd like to make sure that doesn't happen again. I have both rules set to send me an SMS message and an audio message on my Google Mini. I don't seem to get any response from either. My only clue that HSM is working at all is that the water sensor rule does actually send an SMS. I have yet to get anything out of my Google Mini though. Any insight on that would be appreciated too. I'm not sure what else to check. The settings don't seem to leave much room for failure in either HSM or the Notifications app. I have no doubt that I'm at fault, but I don't really know where to start.
I moved my rules for leaving something open to the new built in Notifications App and noticed that I didn't receive TTS messages consistently on my google home mini's either. I moved the rule back to rule machine and everything works great for me. Here is my rule for the garage door being left open.
@Eric.C.Miller, what kind of contact sensor do you have on your freezer door?
SmartThings. It's a side-by-side so I put the magnet on the fridge door and the sensor on the freezer door. If either one is open more than 5 minutes, a nag announcement is generated on the Google Home Hub in the kitchen and a Pushover message is sent to me.
The new Notification App provides all these capabilities without having to setup a rule in RM. Might want to look at that too.
I have the exact same setup on my fridge. It sounds like the built-in Notification app isn't reliable and I need to create my own rule.
Heck I didn't think of that. I have the same sensor sitting on the top of my cabinet for temperature for my ceiling fan automation.
No reason it can't perform double duty! Thanks for the idea.
