Dont' turn on if manually turned off - not clearing state

Not sure if its a bug or user error but my motion lighting app doesn't appear to be clearing state on the "Dont' turn on if manually turned off" option. App logs show the motion sensor returning to an inactive state but the lights don't turn on with the next motion event.

Bumping and tagging @bravenel. Hoping someone can confirm if this is a bug or user error.

Need to see the corresponding device events. These can be found from the device page Events button.

Sorry about that, see attached. Please let me know if you need more or different scenario. FWIW, if I disable the "manually turned off" feature things do work as expected with the light triggering back on immediatly after physically being turned off due to motion.

And finally, motion sensor logs:

You can see that the device is reporting physical off, which 'arms' the 'Don't turn on if turned off manually' feature. When an app turns off a light, the event type is 'digital'. What turned off the light at 10:54?

What type of device is this light?

It was me physically turning off the switch. Its a zooz wall switch.

My understanding was after the motion goes back to inactive the app would clear state and the lights would once again be triggered by motion. Maybe I mis-understood the function of the feature.

I often will turn off the switch and leave the room, this normally triggers the lights back on due to motion. What I was hoping for was a walk out delay before the lights are triggered back on.

No, this is incorrect. Manual off disables motion turning the light on when that feature is selected. It has nothing to do with motion inactive. The only way to clear it is to manually turn on the light.

Okay, that makes sense then. Sorry for the confusion and thanks for the help.

Just to clarify, you are saying that until the light is manually tuned on again, the motion automation is disabled, and will not be re-enabled until the light is manually turned on again. So:

  1. Light turns on from motion
  2. Light is turned off manually
  3. Motion automation is disabled and will not function

At some point in the future (minutes/hours/days):

  1. Light is turnd on manually
  2. Light turns off after time-out set in motion automation
  3. Motion automation is re-enabled

Have I got that right?

Should be:

  1. Light is turned on manually
  2. Motion automation is re-enabled
  3. Light turns off after time-out set in motion automation if motion was active and goes inactive.

Perfect, thanks for clarifying.
