Do I need a Matter hub to be able to pair Meross MS605 with Hubitat C8?
Sort of. Your C8 can’t speak Thread natively, but it can talk to this device through a Thread Border Router such as Apple Home (which I can say from experience works well), or Google Home, and possibly even select newer Alexa devices. Do you have any of those?
But ouch .. have your read the Amazon reviews? Half of the reviews are 3 star and below.
Just received an MS605 this week. Setting it up in the Meross app is pretty easy.
Was able to connect it to Google Home with the QR code and to connect it to Hubitat with the 11 digit manual code.
Google Home has all 3 zones and the Lux reading. They are all separate devices.
Hubitat only gets Zone 1. That makes sense as the QR code/Manual Code is for a standard Matter occupancy sensor.
Meross indicates that Home Assistant is a preferred integration. Since I had been planning to eventually install HA on a NUC pc, that has become my next project. I have two other HA integrations that recently surfaced, so now is a good time.
Will report back when I complete the integrations.
It seems that many reviewers didn't read much about the device and its integrations.
Mine was easy to set up and connect to Google Home. Have a Google Nest mesh system. So they are all border routers.
Will bring the MS605 into HA, then HE, after I set up my new HA system.
My wife has already agreed to several use cases that will help wuth current rules in HE.
Thank you for the replies. Guess have to return it as I don’t have Matter hub, hope the next generation of Hubitat will have Matter support, similar to Homey.
