I really want to up my game with our main dashboard panel. Currently it's a fire 10. Can't a Pi be used to make a bigger touch screen? Would be nice to be wired too! Maybe even PoE?
Don't see why not, depends on how you want to integrate the Pi. A web browser to the HE dashboard would be pretty straight forward. 10" is about the largest I've found for an integrated Pi touch-screen. Normally those are configured where the Pi mounts directly on the back. It appears you are planning a permanent install, in that case using a separate monitor, there are larger options available.
This one (15") has the connections on the back rather than on the side around the frame, which would keep the connections hidden.
