Hi all. Have had a pretty stable Zwave and Zigbee network for a while now on a C8 and currently on ver 2.4.3.172. About a month ago I had an issue with a Zen72 where the dimmer would turn back on by itself if manually turning off after a motion trigger. It was intermittent if it would turn back on by itself but when it did, would do this 3-4 times in a row. If turning off via Hubitat app, couldn’t replicate the issue. Only way I could get it to permanently stop was to exclude and readd. Hasn’t happened since and chalked it up to a device specific issue. Now the past two days, I’m observing the same behavior from a GE Enbrighten dimmer. Removed and readded the simple automation with motion trigger, didn’t resolve the problem. Log would always show the dimmer being turned back on digitally and triggered app is empty. Wound up excluding and readding this one too using the same automation rule and so far so good.
Has anyone experienced this? Worried I’m having a larger issue. Only changes made in the last 2 months was adding 2 Zigbee outlets. Zwave mesh is large, and there were no errors or route changes in the Zwave details. I also did a backup/restore of the database as well as shutting down/unplugging the hub for a bit trying to resolve the issue.
Are you an Alexa Amazon Echo integration user? This doesn't quite sound like the same issue, but Alexa users have seen problems w/lights turning on/off seemingly randomly from a feature called "Alexa Hunches" in which Alexa turns on lights when it thinks you want them on. If you search here on Alexa hunches you'll get a bunch of hits.
Excluding and re-adding the devices would remove them from any apps that were connected to them, so you may have an app or apps that are involved/causing the turning on of the ligths. When you have the issue w/the lights turning back on, have you gone to the devices' "In Use By" tab to see if you have any apps/automations connected to them that might explain the behavior? Have you enabled Debug logging on the devices to see if any clues arise in the logs?
Hello, thanks for the reply. When I was having the issue I removed the device from HomeKit and the echo skill. The only in use by app was my simple automation which I even tried removing and recreating. Attached are the logs when troubleshooting but tbh can’t remember if I had debug on. You can see the physical button pushing to turn off and within seconds turning back on until I turned it off digitally, then it stopped. Nothing changed on the zwave network for months prior to this, been running fine and out of the blue this started.
If one device I’d just chalk up to a weird rare issue but twice in a month after being so stable and on two different devices is just odd.
