Difficulty pairing Sonoff SNZB-04

Zigbee contact sensor. Won't pair or I don't know how to do it. I know that many here have had success with this device so I'm hoping it's something I've missed.

  1. Removed cover, removed plastic battery insulator, tested battery (good), replaced cover.
  2. Set C-7 in Zigbee pairing mode.
  3. With a paperclip, held down reset button (~5 secs) until the LED flashed red 3 times.
  4. Not discovered.

I've done this enough times that I'm approaching the definition of insanity (expecting different results). I haven't been able to find any information on resetting the device, but I did try holding the reset button down for about a minute. All that did was to flash the LED every 5 seconds.

EDIT: Never mind. I tried one more time ( this close >< to insanity) and it paired. About 30 attempts.

Does that mean you are not insane?

I experienced similar difficulties with the Sonoff temp sensors. I had to just keep trying until they eventually paired.

I just paired 6 of these a couple of weeks ago and they all paired immediately. I did add a folded in half piece of the square thick paper that was in the box with it on top of the battery before snapping the case back on since the battery contact appeared suboptimal. No issues since.
