Recently, when I use the newest Hubitat App, my devices show up when I am connected to my network, but won't show up when I am outside of my network. I'm not sure how long this has been broken, but I know it used to work.
I am an iPhone 16 user, and I have the Hubitat C8-Pro and am on the latest firmware. I have tried all the usual things such as rebooting the hub, uninstalling the IOS app and reinstalling it, with no change in behavior.
Additionally, the older Hubitat app, which is being tombstoned, does show these devices inside and outside of my network, leading me to believe it's a bug with the current app.
I don't think that is correct. The "devices" tab (lightbulb icon) should be available to allow you to control devices over the cloud. You just cannot click on the "connect to hub" and manage the hub itself unless you have VPN or Remote Admin.
tray_e, yes you're correct the 'devices' tab (lightbulb icon) in the app works locally, but not remotely. I've used Hubitat since 2020 and the 'devices' tab (lightbulb icon) in the app has always worked locally as well as remotely. Again, in the old app, currently, this functionality works and it has also worked in the new app until recently.
NOTE: Remote Admin is an optional subscription service and is not required to access your hub from a local network or use built-in cloud features like remote Dashboard access
I've never seen device management available without remote admin. The Remote Admin page still says that is a feature it gives you.
You can securely administer all your Hubitat Elevation hubs with an optional monthly subscription to Remote Admin. Easy remote administration enables you to set rules, manage devices, and adjust settings while away from home.
I just checked one of my hubs remotely and my devices do show on the devices page. I'm using the lates version of the app. I would suggest creating a dashboard, that devices page is a mess.
Ah, I now see it is available with the bottom Devices button, but it is not the device list, it is just a list of grouped device icons. I guess if you don't have the device on a dashboard, that could be used for simple commands, but it looks pretty useless otherwise, since you can't run custom commands or do anything else with a device beyond what you can do on a dashboard.
All my sensors are just pink with a sad face, so it doesn't even show sensor status yet. I guess it is not ready for prime time.
You can also mark certain ones as favorites so they show on the main page. I do this for a few items that I want quick access to. But, you cannot do that if you cannot access the devices (which was the original issue the OP was stating)
Yeah, it sucks when you find a feature, start using it, and then it breaks. I have every device on one dashboard or another, so I've never really had a use for that feature, had I even had known it was there.
What do you see when you click on the lightbulb icon? Do you just see a spinning icon?, only a blank page?, perhaps you see the devices but they just fail to respond, or something entirely different?
On the home page, does the top of the screen show a "CLOUD" or "LOCAL" connection.
I suspect that cloud access to both the devices, and to the dashboards, require the same permissions and connectivity methods. Can you access the cloud dashboards or are they unavailable as well?
Under app settings, does it confirm that your Internet access has switched from "Wi-Fi" to "Mobile" and that your phone has obtained an IP address?
