Devices not listed anymore, garage door control reversed

Noticed my app was useless in trying to open garage door a couple of days ago. Removed GoControl door controller and after 2 days finally got it to talk to hub after moving it within 5 feet of it. Then updated hub to latest (and not so greatest) firmware when devices started disappearing. Then buttons stopped working. Automations became erratic (again- not first time). Now the virtual garage door switch control user app I've used for over a year suddenly sees my GoControl physical switch as virtual and the vitrtual switch as physical. Bad enough my lamps turn on at 2-4 am every morning without reason despite removing them and including them again under different names and rooms, but now my daughter can't open the garage door before the bus gets to house due to another bug. The hub has cost me more hours of chasing problems rather than enjoying the automations. I had Vera, Wink and STs before and never experienced these problems with the same existing hardware. Guess nothing really works like the sales pitch says it does.

Welcome to the Hubitat forums, sorry to hear you are having so many problems. None of this is normal, lets see if someone here in the community can help get things under control.

Which exact model of GoControl, I believe there were quite a few versions of these. It sounds like this particular one is a quite old Z-wave, and not Z-wave plus by the way you had to include it. You could have signal issues (especially in a garage) or just a poor mesh. Maybe even ghost nodes from repeatedly trying to pair a device.

Please post a screenshot of your Z-wave details page so we can see if there are any apparent issues. I think you have to change yourself to be an owner to post pics. I believe you should see a "Join" button in the upper right corner of this linked page: Hub owners - Hubitat

I have not heard of any similar issues with this firmware, so I doubt it was the cause. I also don't believe that anything in the firmware was updated for GoControl. So for a minute, lets ignore the update. Maybe we will have to come back to this, but I don't think it is relevant here.

Which app? Please give the name of this or a link to the app so we can at least be on the same page here. Hard to diagnose otherwise.

There has to be a reason, most likely is something like Alexa hunches. It messes with just about everyone until they shut hunches off in the Alexa app. They can be enabled apparently automatically, or by offhandedly saying yes to something Alexa says.

To track it down, you can also go to the device setting page (for whatever lamp) from Devices tab. Scroll down in the settings page, and see what is listed in the "In Use By" section. Something has to be controlling the lamps, it isn't random!

Welcome to the community!

Can you please confirm what version hub you have. (C5, C7 or...?)
You'll find it under Hub Details.

Settings > Hub Details > Hardware Version

Firmware is usually not the issue in these case... Usually it's either age (as @neonturbo poinited out z-wave vs z-wave plus), ghosts, or poor mesh.... I'd follow his advice and start with posting your z-wave details page.
