Is it normal for my dashboard to show switch statuses as unknown if they're connecting via zwave extenders?
Probably not. Z-wave functions as a mesh network with mains-powered devices that repeat signals, whether theyβre dedicated devices for that purpose or have another primary function (like a switch).
So it's probably still coverage causing this then?
How long have the extenders been in place?
2-3 days
Ran a repair I assume?
not recently...running now...
I thought that was only for zwave?
Isn't that what you are talking about here? You said up above that they are going through
ah yes, sorry, two threads in my head. I'm running that repair now on zwave.
After any change to your z-wave network, always a good idea to run a z-wave repair. Your old devices may not automatically update their routes otherwise.
Any time you have a problem that looks like it might be Dashboard, it's a good idea to look at the actual device. So the question here would be: if you look at the device the dashboard tile corresponds to in the hub's "Devices" list (click it go to into its "edit" page), does everything look right? But I actually think that might be your problem. Do your Dashboard tiles say "Unknown"? If so, I think that usually happens when you add a tile to a dashboard for a certain device then delete that actual device in Hubitat (the tile remains). Are you sure the Dashboard title is pointing to a device that's still in your Hubitat system?
Without a screenshot or more information, it's hard to say, but it sounds like a tile that doesn't point to a device anymore might be the problem. The other possibility is you're using an attribute tile or a template that effectively just displays a specific attribute and that attribute happens to be listed as "unknown," which you'd see on the device's edit page in the admin UI. Perhaps you already figured that out. Feel free to provide a bit more information if you're unsure.
