Relatively new user here having switched from long time user of Casa Mi Verdi... hate the GUI on Hubitat but it has been rock solid operational wise...until now. Outdoor device no longer responding. Unsure how to diagnose. I can manually control at device local button. Do I just purchase a replacement or is there a better way?
Can you give more info? What is the device, and how is it connected? A Zigbee device can probably just be reset and paired again, and it will fall back into place. Not knowing the details or if you have done any troubleshooting yet doesn't give us much to go on to help.
If your question is if a device going unresponsive like this is normal on Hubitat, sadly the answer is that it a bit of a hobbyist hub, and things like this are not uncommon, but not common either. Most of the time you will have no issues, but things like this happen time to time.
So no, I wouldn't go replacing the device, just give as much info as you can here and people here will help you get it working again.
As chrisbvt said, more information overall would be helpful.
I'd be curious to know if the device failing to respond from a rule, or can you not even control it (directly) from its own Devices section page entry?
Here is the devise package info:
Zooz 700 Series Z-Wave Plus Outdoor Single Plug ZEN05 | Hub Required | Works with the Z-Box Hub, Home Assistant, and Hubitat
I can no longer control the device by its device switch on the device list page.
Do you have other z-wave devices? If so, are they all working OK?
Hmm, please post your Z-wave details from the hub's settings page here.
Yes several dozen all working as expected for over a year. I have this one zwave device that has stopped responding to zwave commands after a year of flawless operation. My question is there any built in way of diagnosing the device itself or must i simply replace it? Secondly if I replace it, I assume I cannot delete it from the network since it no longer is responding... I prefer the replacement device which would be the exact same model, take the faulted units place and continue to work will all timer based macros I've created.
Does this show you the device info you are seeking to possibly provide a solution other than replacment?
I'm guessing this device is outdoors (as that's its design) -- is range perhaps an issue? I'd maybe try bring it inside (well within range of the hub) and see if you can get it to respond.
That aside, it's certainly possible the device simply went bad.
