Now that we have the Device Firmware Update App, it would be nice if we had a way to share firmware updates for our devices. Perhaps someone can setup a Github depository for them and announce them here?

I was just thinking the same thing. Maybe one of our fine community members will create a repository.
I would rather see a forum section with nothing ( no comments ) but downloads with subgroups by manufacture with links to their site so it’s easier to find the correct / newest version. With the links approved by a moderator without a user post attached. That way when someone leaves, dies or gets banned the ability to find FW is still there. The most frustrating time wasting part of HA is the treasure hunt to find files.

This is a good way to get the forum shut down.
Someone could try hosting on Github etc, but once the manufacturers catch wind of it, I am sure you will get a DMCA notice and takedown of your site.
I don't care about the medium, just a common area to organize firmware. If vendors have issue, it could even be links to where they located their firmware.
That’s exactly what I said. We don’t need a repository of files that become outdated and obsolete. We need a forum section with links and only links ( no discussion, no fluff ) just a forum subdivided by either type ( or preferably ) by manufacturer with links to FW.
There is no copyright issues with links as fair use would apply. Also there wouldn’t be the maintenance hassle of actual files.
