I am looking for a PDF download of all of the developer documentation. I know there is documentation available by using the web interface but I much prefer a PDF that is searchable and doesn't require using multiple web links to find information. Is this available somewhere?
The documentation is an ever changing project that is constantly updated, so having hard copies would become quickly out of date. With that being said, most operating systems allow you to print pages in pdf to save them on local device.
So the solution is to click each page and print to an individual PDF? Really?! Wow...
This is a feature that is planned for the platform the documentation is built on, but it is not currently available (and has been in this status for a couple years). See here for the feature request: Export Pages to PDF - Feature Request - Wiki.js
So, some day, maybe.
That being said, I'd echo the above that any such copies would soon become outdated...
I agree with @reid.j.keith. A PDF is much easier for me to learn various capabilities I'm not looking for but becomes interesting when I find out a new (to me) capability.
Even if it is outdate, at any given time at least 90% is valid.
Wouldn’t any developer documentation really be up to each developer to decide if they make such documentation available in the first place? it seems this wouldn’t really be a platform feature, Given the frequency with which some developers update their apps and drivers the documentation would always be somewhat stale. It seems the best idea would be a link library to the community pages for each developer or there projects, not really pdf documentation for each. It would be different if the system were closed off so that one could use Hubitat provided apps and drivers and 3rd party apps and drivers were not allowed.
I think you’re misunderstanding what the OP is asking for.
Hubitat provides documentation for developers that want to write their own drivers or apps in Groovy but aren’t already familiar with the Hubitat platform (or SmartThings, which Hubitat is largely based off of).
Oh, ok. You are correct , I was misunderstanding. Thank you for the clarification.
Can't this be done now? Albeit with some custom scripting.
Looks like this tool could be added to generate a sitemap XML file: GitHub - Hostwiki/wikijs-sitemap: Sitemap for Wiki.js
Then would just need a script to periodically do a web scrape and spit out a PDF using the sitemap.
I dunno how much customization can be done with the service provider that's hosting the wiki though. If that's self-hosted in something like AWS...game on.
Maybe? I was speaking only to official features. The above is a third party, and I am not familiar with their offerings.
Fair enough. Don't know that the lemon is worth the squeeze. Just throwing the idea out there.
