Detection of loss and restoration of 110vac power to Z-Wave light bulbs

When 110 vac power goes off and then restored, several z-wave light bulbs turn ON at full brightness.

I would like to detect the power OFF and then restored ON state so that an alert is sent to my C-7 Hub so I can use the alert as a trigger to turn all the lights ON (since they are already ON) and then turn them off. Next the automation would review what lights are supposed to be ON and restore them to proper status.

Optimum solution would be a low power solid state relay that responds to restored power state slowly (allows for multiple power fluctuations) so that a battery signal could be sent through the relay restored power status to a triggering device for an alert. Any ideas?

I use the Zooz ZSE50 for power outage detection.

You don't say where you live. From the web page, it seems like the ZSE50 would work in Europe.

The Ring alarm z-wave extender will do what you want. Has a built in battery for backup and notifies when on and off utility power. Small, plugs into an outlet and also extends z-wave. Plus it is inexpensive.

I use the Ring extender to power on a few devices that do not power back on when power is lost. You can toggle bulbs off the turn on with resumption of power.

Okay, where do I find Zwave bulbs? I am thinking I could have a few uses for those if they are repeaters. The only ones I currently have are zigbee.

The Z-wave bulbs are from “Go Control” and screw into any light socket; however, as far as I know, they do not provide mesh relay. They are dimmable and I obtained them from Z-Wave Products.

You have given me the most amount of technical information and I compliment you for the extra effort. I am interested in why a range extender is needed (other than the battery and report process). Most of my Z-wave in-wall switches act as mesh relays, so no range extender is needed; however, I will research your solution and if it is truly “low cost”, it may be the best solution rather than cobbling-up something unique. bbrannon, I just checked the technical details for the range extender and they state that a proprietary hub is required. Do you operate this equipment with a Hubitat or a Ring system hub that uses z-wave? One may have trouble using proprietary software/signal relay.

My Honeywell thermostats run off the c-wire, but have battery backup. The community driver has a power attribute for mains or battery, so as long as the hub stays up with a UPS, it can detect that power went out. So it would be easy to make a rule that detects that attribute changing back to mains power, to run a rule for power restored.

I have a vague memory that it is not compatible with older hubs? I think I had it paired with my C-5 and it paired, but would not report anything and then I could not exclude it! I had to resort to the old Z-Wave stick exclude. The whole thing may be moot if the OP doesn’t have an older hub but worth confirming that it is compatible with the whatever hub they have.

EDIT: I found my messages on the thread you linked above - the issue was with my hub being a C-5. C-7 and above are good.

I initially paired this with a C8, maybe C7 and migrated it to a C8 Pro.
