Yesterday I was doing an inclusion of a brand new Zooz zse41 open close sensor. During the inclusion the device did not do a proper inclusion so I preceded to do an exclusion which failed also. Unfortunately it left the system with a ghosted device. I was able to delete the ghosted device (fortunately) and tried two more times with failures and ghosted devices, when I decided it was a bad sensor since I bought 2 of these and the other zooz zse41 worked great. So now I'm waiting for a new one.
My problem is I noticed in the logs that it is showing the 3 failed sensor and when I click on it, it says "device 83 does not exist on this hub" "it was most likely deleted at some point" "please update your links". It shows a different device number for the other 2 failed attempts. My problem is since I'm fairly new to hubitat and troubleshooting problems I could not find or figure out how to delete and update the links.
I don't have a good answer to your immediate question here, but I'll offer a pro-tip for the future...
Before including any ZW device (brand-new or otherwise), always first exclude it. For new devices, the exclusion should return an "Unknown device excluded" message (or something like that - I'm going from memory). That confirms the device is clean, clear, and ready to include.
The first thing I would try is a shutdown from the settings menu, then unplug the hub for a minute, then plug it back in. This will reset the Z-wave (and Zigbee) radios. Then I would check the Z-Wave Details for any ghosts. If you have any questions you could post a screenshot here of your Z-Wave Details page.
Edit: If you are not able to post a screenshot you may need to join the Owner's group....Hub owners - Hubitat
I shutdown the hub waited till the light turned red pulled the plug waited a few minutes. Restarted and looked at the devices (31 z-wave devices) and there were no ghosted devices. I actually removed ghosted devices that was created by the zooz zse41 yesterday twice with no problems by shutting down the hub, restarting, then ensuring the battery was not in the device then did a refresh of the ghost device, took a few clicks till remove popped then clicked remove and after a few seconds the ghost was gone.
So I figured I'm looking good till this morning every light thats on z-wave came on for no reason (meaning by a rule) so I clicked on one of the z-wave light switch in devices then clicked on logs to see if I can try to figure out what turned on 10 lights at 5 am this morning and looking at "past logs" is where I saw 3 entries of zooz zse41 open close sensor. It is still there and in fact I noticed as I looked at all the devices in the "past logs" there was one called linear/vision siren. That one popped up when I was doing an Ultraloq door lock inclusion last week so I did an exclusion of the door lock then a factory reset of the lock did an inclusion and it came up correctly this time, back then.
Anyways if I click on the linear/vision siren or any one of the zooz zse41 devices on the "past logs" page it states what I said on my previous first writeup. Where it says "device does not exist, please update your links".
And yes I always do an exclusion before I do inclusion and in fact on the 3rd try of the zse41 sensor I did a factory reset per instructions since being a brand new device I still had it (lol) and it still failed hence returning it and getting another one.
I just want to know how to "update your link" to remove these devices.
Thank you
I am not sure what "update your link" refers to. Perhaps someone else might know.
I still suggest you post a screenshot of your Z-Wave Details page. It might take a few screenshots for 31 devices but that is ok. I believe the key to troubleshooting your problem is in the Z-Wave Details page,
Being a new hubitat user I do not know how to post a screen shot on this site yet. I have a samsung android tablet that i use. Any directions as to how to post it would again be greatly appreciated. Thanks
so here you see the past logs page and it show 3 - zooz zse41 open close sensor and the linear/vision siren but if you look at the z-wave details nothing there and the other screen shot you can see it say device # does not exist on hub pease update your links.
I just want to know what updating your links mean. I'm assuming its got something to do to delete these devices.
I would agree that these just look like leftover crumbs in the log. Your Z-Wave details look good. I do not see any ghosts or any issues. Not sure why the lights came on at 5 am. Suggest you keep the logs open and if you have any more problems post a screenshot of the log events
I appreciate everyone's help and input I will let you know if these do disppear in time, just for more information for everyone. And hopefully the all lights on was a glitch (i know not a good word for an awesome system) but i remembered that last night i created a fire alarm safety rule that turns on all the lights if the smoke detectors activate and my mode changes from night to day at 5 am even though the fire alarm is armed 24/7. We will see tomorrow. Thanks again.
Duh, sorry, I knew that. You can always do a backup, soft reset with clearing the logs through the
Diagnostic Tool, then restore from the backup. I know that works
