Hey Folks,
Quick, and probably obvious, question regarding Delayed Actions. Have a look at the rule below, on my C7 this used to run perfect, minus the second thermostat setting to 15 deg delayed by a minute. With the C-8 it appears sometimes it doesn't get the command and subsequently leaves the heater on 18 so I added this part to ensure the heater actually sets back to 15 deg. Question is...Delayed Action, on the first setting of 15 deg will be 15 minutes delayed, does the rule actually pause, wait for 15 mins and then resume, i.e. a minute later (after the 15 minutes) the second command will be sent to set it at 15 deg again. or do I need to set the second 15 deg to 16 minutes delay to get 1 minute separation.
There is a Delay action and there is a delay on an Action. You have delay on an Action.
Delay action will pause the rule until the delay time has been met.
Delay on an Action will schedule the action to run at a future time.
Your rule will schedule the two thermostat actions sequentially but almost at the same time and the scheduled 1 minute delay will run before the 15 minute delay. I think you want to schedule 15 then 16 minutes.
Ok, thanks, this is where I was getting confused. That's very clear to me.
Fabulous explanation... thank you!
@Hubitat_Staff : suggestion: make this delay distinction must clearer in the UX.
