My C4 hub appears to have died today - it’s completely unresponsive and I can’t get the portal appear. I also can’t seem to access it to recover via the 8081 page.
Obviously I’m gutted, but want to minimise the upcoming pain of sorting it all out so I have some questions:
How can extract the latest backup from the device?
If I get a new C5 device and manage to extract the backup from my C4 - is the process as simple as plugging in the old radios + restoring from the C4 backup? I’ve read people have had issues doing this.
Do NOT pass go. Do NOT collect 200$. Send a ticket to support@hubitat.com and get someone on it and do what they tell you. @bobbyD
[EDIT] Patience is not my thing. I'm the first to admit it. I'd be wanting to unplug that hub and restore the database, but it's important that you wait for instructions. If the hub is bricked, they will probably work with you on a replacement as long as you follow their instructions.
Has the IP address changed?
It may have done after a power off/on.
That could be the reason why you cannot get into it via the port.
Just thinking aloud.
Not sure if anyone has any experience with this issue.. but I think I've worked out the problem:
The network chip / ethernet in the hub has failed.
SO actually automations that are completely local are running. However anything that needs LAN or Internet does not. So Alexa, LIFX (Most of the lights in my house) and access to the settings/portal are down.. but any other existing automations that don't need IP work.
Given that the hub is at least on... any ideas how to get the backups out of it?
Do you mean: Did I try connecting the hub's ethernet to a different port in the router? yes - and that did not work.
Basically anything with the hub to do with IP /LAN / Internet is not working - but the hub is on and any existing automatons with zigbee / z-wave only devices are working. I just cant get into the hub to make changes / download backups or do anything with LAN devices or internet devices / services.
But seeing that the hub is not totally dead.. it would be great if anyone knew either 1. how to get the hub online using another method (not using the on board network adapter for e.g.) or 2. a way to extract the latest backup
Did you ever resolve this? I'm having similar issues, but my hub will only go with static IP xxx.xxx.2.5. The new router i have only does xxx.xxx.1.(1-254). Though my hub use to do xxx.xxx.1.4. Don't know why the change.
Actually I figured it out... I hope. Instead if just trying IP Address xxx.xxx.1.4, I decided to try a different one like xxx.xxx.1.22 and it seems to be working fine now. The only issue I have is when I open it through the network on my phone it doesn't find it right away. And honestly it doesn't even find it from the IP Address. I have to put the Mac address in. But if thats my only issue, I'll deal with it.
