Dashboard Buttons

Could anyone confirm or deny that the 'pushed' event is still the only event supported in the dashboard built-in app?

Deny. There was a time when this was true. Now, you can choose the event:

I saw that; but it appears that's a way to configure which single event gets triggered.

My experimentation lets me trigger the pushed event but if i try and do a hold on the same widget nothing happens.

Is there a way to get the button widget to trigger both?

Right, the Dashboard only supports a tap on any tile (or interaction with sliders for dimmers, color for bulbs, etc.). Dashboard "buttons" do not act like real or virtual buttons in terms of sending commands or generating events based on anything else you do with the tile itself, like holding or releasing. A click/tap/etc. will just send the selected command to the associated device.
