Dashboard bug and feature request

Found a problem with the dashboard editor. I was trying to get more control over positioning and spacing of the buttons, so I set the matrix to 16 wide by 9 high, hoping to use mostly 2x2 buttons but some smaller ones.

Well, as soon as you set either the rows or columns to 10 or more, it takes too much space to display that so it wraps - pushing the "add tile" button off the bottom of the screen.

In other words,
Annotation%202019-01-02%20214434 becomes image
and the tool becomes unusable, as shown below:
Annotation%202019-01-02%20220324 becomes image

In addition, some of the buttons don't draw correctly when they're small. here's an example:

In addition, it's pretty confusing to click the "^" button next to the tile position "row" field and have the button move DOWN.

Having this built-in is awesome, but it really needs some work. I'd love to be involved with the beta process when this gets to the top of the priority list.

You can try Sharptools, is a direct integration with HE.

Well that will not work if he wants to use llocal dashboards

True, but I think that would make my system cloud-dependent, wouldn't it? I'd like to be able to use my dashboards from my phone while on my local WiFi even if the internet is down.

True, I have both, Sharptools in a wall tablet and phones, dashboard in my phone just in case internet goes down.

This threw me a couple times early on. It's clear that this UI decision was made by an engineer and not a UX guy.

The obvious solution is to display the row number upside down so the up button and direction of travel match.

What I would do is display a diamond pattern with the position displayed in the middle and four direction buttons in the corners, so it's clear that "up" means "move the button up" not "increment the value of the row number".

I think that every time I see that when the lights are on all the way they go to 99% instead of 100%. Unless they are Lutron. Then they do go to 100%

I recall that being an issue with SmartThings as well.

I don't really know if I would call it an issue or not. Just an example of how something is obviously designed by an engineer. A programmer would say "Hey the reported value is literally 99%". A non technical user would say "I turned the lights all the way up to 100%"

Agree 100% (not 99% lol).

Is it a big deal? No.

Is it distracting/annoying? Yes.
