Just added 2 new contact sensors and can't find out how to add them to my layout
Yes, I found it been looking under dashboard and it was under maker api 
Correct. Most external / 3rd party apps and utilities connect with Hubitat through the Maker API, in which you must first authorize the device(s) you want to expose to them.
