Objective: Detect when the water softener cycles and alert me because my Flume water meter is going to send an alert that water is running.
Challenges: The water softener uses a timing motor that is on all the time. A Kasa KP115 does not detect any change in power use with cycling. The power source is mostly water pressure.
I have ordered the Xiaomi/Aquara vibration sensor. Hopefully that will work OK. The Xiaomi temperature/humidity sensors have been working OK on my H7. The water softener is in the garage and far from the hub and nearest Zigbee repeater, though.
Any other suggestions or advice?
