Hi everyone, sorry if this is a dumb question I'm just new to this whole scene. I currently have a K4001C switch that is connected to my Hub C8. I'm pressing the switch but there are no log events saying that I pressed it. Does that have to be enabled somewhere or I have to add a console.log() function somewhere?
Typically there are options in the Preference Settings in the Device Details page. So, if you open the Devices page of the HE Web UI, click the device to open it's details page, then look at the Preference Settings, are their Debug or similar logging options able to be turned on? If so, turn them on, then select Save Settings. Then check your logs while you interact with the switch.
You can enable Description Text logging or Debug logging for that device on the device page. In the meanwhile, do you see the button press events if you click on the Events tab of the device page?
All I have in the Preferences section is an option that says "Status attribute for devices/rooms" and the only option is "None".
I don't see Description Text logging or Debug logging in the device page. It also doesn't trigger anything in the events tab when I press the button.
Then yes, you will likely need to create a rule triggered by the switch changing, with an action of logging a message. You could include a conditional action to check whether the switch is on or off and log a different message.
I'm not sure how to do that, I've just started using this yesterday. Are there any good resources on how to create rules?
All good, give me a couple of minutes...
What driver is your device using? What buttons do you see on the device page for your K4001C switch?
It sounds like you might not be using the correct driver for this device, as all the built-in drivers offer the preferences above and the one you mentioned is provided by "free" for the platform as part of the UI, regardless of driver. What driver are you using for this device? This is under "Type" on the device detail page.
Create a rule, create a trigger on a Switch, selecting your switch, then choosing the Changed option:
Create an Action using the Log option:
Enter an appropriate message to be included in the log.
Save and let the rule run when you operate the switch.
I just realized that it wasn't set, just changed it to Connector Switch
. Again, I am new to this.
That is not the correct driver for a real-world device.
I'm not familiar with your model, but from a quick search, it appears to be Zigbee, so something like "Generic Zigbee Switch" seems like a good starting point unless there is a model-specific driver (be sure to run "Configure" after you switch drivers).
You're right I never noticed, It's clicking now when triggered from crestron one lets goooooooo.
